The "middle mile" is the segment of the Local2u network linking the networks Core Network or back bone to the Local Central Office. As Local2u employs a mesh network thesis as its back bone - the core network can be redefined as a series of central offices depending on capacity needs.
This allows for higher levels of network redundancy than incumbent deployments. The middle mile is distinguished as the part of the network from the Last Mile, which links Local2u to the customer.
